People are Stupid about the Economy

There's no other way to say it. As a student of economics, it amazes me how the news media believes this. Never mind the fact that George Bush inherited an economy already on its way to a slowdown. After lowering interest rates and lowering taxes, the economy boomed for 6 years. Then Democrats took over the house and the senate and "bang", things started going south to the point where we stand today. But do people remember this? I'm not sure which is why I think they are stupid about the economy.

And what does the media choose to report? A statement from Nancy Pelosi, "This crisis just shows the result of George Bush's failed policies..." I think they have this on taped loop. She uses this phrase for just about anything bad that happens. Stupid. Typical politics where one side blames the other. And the media gives them a pass.

Rush Limbaugh says that people's historical perspective begins when they were born; in other words, people compare what is happening now to past events in their lifetime which often leads to quotes like, "the worst it has ever been." Never mind the fact that the people who are saying it never lived through the Great Depression.

The economy is breathing. It exhaled earlier this week and inhaled later in the week to end on an up note. Man, are newscasters depressed. They want blood! At least until after the election.

Legislators out of control! California's AB2678

If you want to see what Communism looks like, it's getting close to that in California. We have anything but a free market, and the legislators are driving businesses out of the state by the droves. Now they are aiming to kill the housing market in the name of solving global warming! As if they could.

The San Francisco Association of Realtors (SFAR) is hard at work trying to defeat Assembly Bill 2678 proposed by Fabian Nunez. The goal of the legislation is to force point of sale energy audits on home buyers and sellers. In a state already suffering from the effects of a weakening housing market, Mr. Nunez is proposing oppressive regulations that would 1) force home buyers to have and pay for an energy audit that 2) sets out a timeline of energy saving upgrades that would have to be made or the owner would face fines and penalties. Is this the government that is supposed to be for the little guy?

The SFResidence Blog has a short editorial about it along with some comments put forth by the SFAR. It's worth reading and give several phone numbers of people to contact if you oppose this new regulation.

Our government is out of control at the federal level as well as the state level. They are moving toward a Communist form of government where the elected elites get to choose what the rest of us can and can not do. I, for one, am getting ready to leave the country and head for Panama!

Don't let McCain fool you... he's a liberal!

His recent appearance where he talked about providing health care through the private sector is a Democrat idea and will hurt our economy. There is no difference between the 3 candidates as far as I am concerned and McCain MUST be defeated at the convention. He will not represent our party as much as he will emulate Democrats that he might defeat. What a lousy choice. He is weak on terrorism. He wants to close Gitmo and bring terrorists here so they get into our court systems... can you say "Clinton"? About the only good thing he has proposed is the moratorium on federal gas taxes for the summer.
