Liberals Choose Which Laws They Want to Obey

July 18, 2008: From the Patriot Post

DC ignores Heller ruling

On 26 June, the Supreme Court ruled in District of Columbia vs. Heller that Washington, DC’s handgun ban violated the Second Amendment, forcing the city to draft new gun legislation. The DC city council is now considering that new legislation, but if it passes, it’s almost certain that the District will end up in court again. That’s because DC’s new law doesn’t look much different from the old one.

While handguns would be allowed in DC homes under the new legislation, semiautomatic pistols would still be illegal. “The semiautomatic ban is clearly unconstitutional,” said Alan Gura, the attorney who successfully challenged DC’s handgun ban. “The overwhelming majority of handguns people use in the United States are semiautomatic.” This is significant because the Supreme Court majority opinion noted that weapons in “common use” could not be banned, but only “dangerous and unusual weapons.”

Also basically unchanged is DC’s requirement that guns be locked or disassembled unless there is an “immediate threat.” In other words, the District of Columbia expects residents to assemble and load a revolver while being attacked by an intruder in the middle of the night. We doubt the Supreme Court would be amused, especially since Chief Justice John Roberts mocked the very idea during the oral-arguments phase of Heller.

No matter—Washington, DC, is intent on defying the Heller ruling anyway. “[B]ecause we really haven’t changed the storage rule from the prior unconstitutional law and because of other features, I do agree that this is a lawsuit waiting to happen,” said council member Mary Cheh, “but we’ll be prepared.” The problem is, the law-abiding citizen who is threatened in his own home won’t be prepared.

In San Francisco, up until recently, has chosen to ignore the law of the United States and declared itself a sanctuary city. Fortunately, the City government has realized that many of the crimes committed there were by illegals, so they are now cooperating with ICE.

Bottom line... why is it that liberals choose which laws they think are right while the rest of us have to follow ALL of the rules? I other words, if they agree with the law, it's okay, but if they don't, they choose to ignore it. I don't agree with the laws regarding the IRS and taking our money. Why doesn't the City of San Francisco choose to ignore that one? It's more against what the founding fathers fought for than any of the other laws they don't like. In fact, DC is choosing to ignore the second amendment!

Yellowcake in Iraq? Say it isn't so!

So after years of publicizing the fact that Saddam had no WMDs, why is it that the media has not said a thing about the yellowcake uranium that was recently found in Iraq? Seems like that should be BIG NEWS. But, of course, it is being ignored by the press... because the MEDIA LIES by omission! How can we expect anything esle? After all, their job of delivering the news has long since passed. Ever wonder why the first thing dictators do is take over the newspapers???

“Hear about the 550 metric tons of yellowcake uranium found in Iraq? No? Why should you? It doesn’t fit the media’s neat story line that Saddam Hussein’s Iraq posed no nuclear threat when we invaded in 2003. It’s a little known fact that, after invading Iraq in 2003, the U.S. found massive amounts of uranium yellowcake, the stuff that can be refined into nuclear weapons or nuclear fuel, at a facility in Tuwaitha outside of Baghdad. In recent weeks, the U.S. secretly has helped the Iraqi government ship it all to Canada, where it was bought by a Canadian company for further processing into nuclear fuel—thus keeping it from potential use by terrorists or unsavory regimes in the region. This has been virtually ignored by the mainstream media. Yet, as the AP reported, this marks a ‘significant step toward closing the books on Saddam’s nuclear legacy.’ Seems to us this should be big news. After all, much of the early opposition to the war in Iraq involved claims that President Bush ‘lied’ about weapons of mass destruction and that Saddam posed little if any nuclear threat to the U.S. This more or less proves Saddam in 2003 had a program on hold for building WMD and that he planned to boot it up again soon...Saddam acquired most of his uranium before 1991, but still had it in 2003, when invading U.S. troops found the stuff... That means Saddam held onto it for more than a decade. Why? He hoped to wait out U.N. sanctions on Iraq and start his WMD program anew. This would seem to vindicate Bush’s decision to invade.” —Investor’s Business Daily

When I was a Democrat

When I think about liberals and how to persuade them of the truth, I go back to the past when I was a radical liberal Democrat, anti-war, anti-rich, etc. and try and devise talking points to change their minds as mine has been changed. It's not an easy task since once the change is made, it is hard to go back to that type of thinking.

Over 18 years ago, I was a dead broke alcholic, mad at the world because of my situation. After all, was I not a nice guy, a single guy trying to split time with my ex-wife to raise our daughter and make a living. The world was against me as I drove around in my beat-up Chevy Sprint shooting black smoke out the tailpipe delivering newspapers in the early morning and pizzas in the evening. Up to that point I had voted Democrat in every single election and my situation had not improved, no matter whether Democrats or Republicans were elected.

Make no mistake. I am not blaming either political party for my situation... not now. But at the time I wanted to punish those rich guys that were keeping me down, not willing to look at alcohol or my attitude as being the cause of my dilemna. In other words, I was the problem.

In 1989 I had an epihphany and realized that I was the master of my destiny. I can't explain how it came about, but after years of listening to tapes of Dr. Dennis Waitley, Dr. Wayne Dyer and other Nightingale-Conant motivational speakers, something clicked. Regardless of who I voted for, I was responsible for the good and the bad things in my life. That's when my life started to improve. If I was responsible for the bad things, then I could also make things better if I chose to. One of those secrets was blame.

"Losers fix the blame... winners fix what caused the problem" is one of my favorite truisms. Politics is all about blame, don't you agree? And the news is all about pointing to who is to blame (Katrina). And regardless of what the truth is, Republicans are usually named. If it's a Democrat the party affiliation is usually way down in the story. Check it out and you will see I am telling the truth. If it's a Republican it's on or near the front page. If it's a Democrat, it's usually buried.

Recently my column has come under fire by liberals who hate free speech. One of my buddies over at ww.FedUpNetwork.com got a note from some liberal who accused him of being in bed with the oil companies. How absurd. So if you support more drilling to bring down gas prices for you and your family, you must be a oil hack, right? What does that make people who don't support drilling? In bed with enviro-Nazis? No. In that same e-mail I was called a lot of nasty names because I say what I believe. Tough. I am not going to shut up. The truth is the truth, not the truth because of WHO says it.

For example, headlines say, "Bush administration suffers setback as courts rule for terrorists" or something like that. The truth is, doesn't the United States suffer, not just Bush? Isn't that a setback for you and me? I think so. Of course, there are a lot of people who live here and have had it so easy that they can afford to be anti-American. Nothing has been required of them. They sit back with their trust funds and support the liberal causes because it makes them feel good to give money to these wonderful causes, never looking at the results that come from them. It's EASY to sit back and call our heroes in the military horrible names and accuse them of committing unspeakable acts without a single shred of evidence or accuse oil executives of gouging consumers or manipulating gasoline prices without knowing the first thing about economics or the oil industry.

I will expand on this in days to come.

Who READS the San Francisco Chronicle?

In an article yesterday, the San Francisco Chronicle did an article about today's online telethon by Melanie Morgan and  MoveAmericaFoward.org to raise enough money to send care packages to all troops serving in Iraq and Afghanistan by July 4.

While stating that "The Vast Right-Wing Conspiracy (Finally) Embraces New Media to Support the Troops", Joe Garofoli doesn't seem to understand the the Right IS the New Media.

Regardless, we are in full support of this effort and are happy that the SFGate website chose to publicize today's event. As usual, the liberal commenters were totally negative about the effort. San Francisco is full of angry lefties who need to give their trust funds to the poor and go back to work!

What do the political parties actually stand for?

Let's break it down to specifics. This election is pretty clearly defined. Other than the global warming issue, McCain and Obama are clearly on opposite sides of most of the remaining issues. At first I thought that there was a difference between the parties in that true Republicans stand on principles regardless of win or lose, while Democrats will do and say anything to win. But I'm not sure that is the case now. However, the fact that Democrats won't give up a seat when one of their members is in a coma pretty much says it all. And it's not about the truth, it's about politics. If it were about the truth, then Democrats would say that they agreed with Bush that Iraq had WMDs, but to say they NEVER thought he did and that Bush made it up to go to war is a LIE! Doesn't the truth and character mean anything anymore? Guess not to Democrats.

Here are some of the issues and where the parties stand:

Democrats (what they are eagerly proposing)
  • Anti-war in Iraq (but they are willing to send troops to Darfur and Tibet to free people)
  • Higher taxes on the rich (though they don't define what that number is so they could be aiming for you)
  • More regulations to reduce global warming (though they never tell you how many jobs would be lost by the regulations or how much money that would cost and how little effect it would make because seemingly no progress has been made)
  • No allowing drilling of oil - pushing conservation instead as a way to lower prices
  • Believe abortion should be legal through upholding Roe Vs. Wade decision (but are terrified to let states make that decision on their own because then people would see where their politicians stand on the issue)
  • Amnesty for illegal immigrants (including giving them voting rights and welfare benefits)
  • Nationalized health care (paid for by taxes - of course there would be no bureaucracy involved with setting this up)
Republicans (what they should do, anyway)
  • The war on terror has kept the US safe from attack for 7 years - strong on security
  • Lower taxes for everyone, smaller government
  • Global warming (if it even exists) has not been affected by all the billions we have sunk into the effort and it's time to admit that the earth goes through normal warming and cooling periods - this is just one of them
  • Drill here, drill now, pay less and build some refineries and nuclear power plants
  • Just the opposite - States should be making the law on abortion according to the will of the people - should not be a federal "law"
  • Close the borders and make business -verify all social security numbers before employing people
  • Leave health care alone other than doing something about frivolous lawsuits against hospitals and doctors

I know McCain is kind of lame on a lot of issues. But true Republicans that are running for house and senate seats are our best hope. Obama is dangerous because people are looking only at the color of his skin and not at the principles he believes in. Very scary.

America 232 Years Later - and Falling Fast

With liberalism running wild, it's hard to imagine the United States lasting much longer. Judges are making policy decisions they were never supposed to be able to make. The founders would have never imagined them making such landmark decisions. I read somewhere that the judiciary was almost an afterthought by the writers of the Constitution. Perhaps they should have spent a little more time trying to imagine ways to keep them in check. Instead we now have 9 people ruling against the will of the people like the King did when the colonists broke away from England.

In a country that was founded on religious freedom, it is hard to believe that every religion is welcome except Christianity. A couple in Florida were fired from their apartment managers jobs and evicted from their home after having displayed a stainglass art piece with a short bible verse on it. Wonder what would have happened if the verse had been from the Koran? With political correctness running rampant, I am pretty sure they would have been left alone.

Wealth transfers in the form of welfare were never imagined by the founders, and would have been quickly dispatched had anyone tried to suggest it back when the country began. The idea of private ownership of personal property was very dear to them which is why only property owners were originally allowed to vote. San Francisco is the perfect example of what they were out to prohibit. Today renters outnumber landlords and therefore is one of the places with the most onerous restrictions on rent control. If you want your apartment back tenants are usually paid $10,000 or more to vacate... and this is considered reasonable when rent control is involved.

California is also a BLUE state where tenants have more rights than the landlord. Because we are a compassionate state and people are not to blame for their unfortunate circumstances, landlords can not just kick people out of their homes if they don't pay rent and must go through a tedious process to get their property back. For example, a person I know had a section 8 tenant where HUD was paying their entire rent... for the first month, anyway. The tenant secured a job in the second month of tenancy and benefits were immediately cut back to less than half even though he didn't keep the job for more than 2 weeks. The tenant was injured on the job and ended up in the hospital. He did not pay his portion of the rent for 2 months despite promises to get it together. In the third month, he ended up in jail so the landlord was forced to start eviction. For about $600 my friend spent another month trying to get the tenant and his girlfriend (who decided to squat until she could be legally removed) out, even offering them $500 at one point if they would vacate by 5PM on a Sunday evening. They didn't. At the time of this writing she's still in the unit, eviction had been served and 7 days from now we will know if they responded to the complaint. If they do not, then it will be another week and a half before Sheriffs show up to escort them out. If they do, it could be another month with a court case in between. Changing the locks would have been easier, but is illegal in California! As a result, my friend is out 3 1/2 months (at best) rent and will be responsible for any repairs and cleanup that these low life scumbag renters (but I have no opinion) leave behind. To add insult to injury, if they move out and leave any furniture, the landlord has to store it at his own expense. Of course, he can sue for damages, but these people have nothing to begin with, so he can't get blood out of a turnip.

But let's go back. These people are getting public assistance to live their deviant lifestyle. It is supported because they are drug addicted and can not get jobs. So our compassionate society had decided that you and I who work should fork over money to help them support themselves just "because we can afford it". Is that fair? So in most cases, public assistance is a transfer of money from people who earn it to people who provide NO benefits to society. Unfortunately, we now have mob rule in this country. Because majority rules, we have a group of elite polititicans, mostly Democrat, voting on our behalf to take our money and give it to those that contribute nothing. It's pretty sick, and a sign of the end times.

I hate to sound the death knell, but US Citizens need to take the country back to a place where the founders originally intended or we are all screwed. They are going to have to take on the judges to get it done. In California, the circuit courts constantly overturn laws voted on and passed in elections. Illegal aliens were the beneficiaries of a horrible ruling where voters chose to deny benefits to anyone who is not a US citizen, and the judges decided that was unconstitutional! Personally, we are making plans to relocate to a warm Latin American country that is new and has very few laws to curtail individual freedoms. It will take them about 200 years to get to where the US is, but we won't be around to see it. The only hope this country has is that a new breed of patriots take over and educate people about what is really going on in politics.

Finally, the lawmakers must be made to be accountable for the laws they pass. Right now, in most cases, I've been told they are passing laws from which they are immune. If it's good for us, shouldn't it be good enough for them?

Media lies by omission

I have been thinking about this for several months now, and I am truly disappointed by the media. Actually, I am not. I have come to expect it. It's obvious that the media has a liberal bias and broadcasts news stories with that in mind. How did it become so? One acronym... the AP (Associated Press). All news outlets get their news from the AP. And more and more, opinon is being reported as fact.

Worse, is the fact that liars are not being called to account for their fabrications. You think I am exaggerating? How then do you explain that most politicians who are now opponents of the war actually voted for it. In fact, some of them (Kennedy, Kerry, Clinton, Gore etc.) were saying the same things when Clinton was President that Bush is saying now? Because the truth is not the truth? BULL! And the media refuses to call Murtha, Pelosi, Boxer, Feinstein, Woolsey, et al LIARS!

People need to wake up and look at these liars for what they are and then throw them out of office. Why anyone would vote for this Democratic Party is beyond me unless you are a rabid anti-Bush basher. Democrats are behind the smoking bans which is an assault on freedom. Yet who smokes? Studies show for the most part, poor people practice this habit. And how do poor people usually vote? Democrat. So people are actually voting for people who are curtailing their feedoms. Yet they howl in the House and Senate when the President puts the FISA bill into action to protect the citizens calling it the biggest assault on our feedom. Democrats are the biggest assault on freedom.

Don't agree? Let me ask you these questions:
  • Who is limiting where PRIVATE companies can drill for oil and build refineries? Republicans or Democrats?
  • Who is trying to pass a ban on plastic bottled water in San Francisco? Republicans or Democrats?
  • Who is trying to ban plastic bags at grocery stores? Republicans or Democrats?
  • Who made us switch from paper to plastic bags in grocery stores? Republicans or Democrats?
  • Who is forcing Californians to go hands free with their cellular telephones? California is RUN by Democrats!
  • Who is forcing incandescent bulbs out of the market place and mandating CFL bulbs? Republicans or Democrats?
  • Who forced television broadcasters to go HD and then came up with a fund to help people make the conversion on their sets? Republicans or Democrats?
Look, I can site many more examples where liberals have chipped away at our freedoms and rights by incrementally passing legislation that we're told is aimed at protecting us. But time and time again, they are passing laws that prohibit gas exploration while driving up our gas prices. Go to www.FedUpNetwork.com and sign the petitions and get involved in turning back this rabid environmentlism that has done nothing to stem the so-called man made global warming... because it can't be done! It's the sun's fault! No amount of taxation and regulation is going to stop the earth from warming... if it is even happening at all!

SUPREMELY upset!

The Supreme Court does not have the country's best interest at heart. How else can you read this? Five of the justices voted to give basic US rights to enemy combatants! So now we have to read them their rights before we shoot them? God help our soldiers. Send letters. Make phone calls. Express your outrage! This is totally WRONG!
This means that anyone being held at Gitmo now has the same rights as you and I do. These are scumbag terrorists who are aiming to kill our citizens. AND we are probably paying for their attorneys!!! We should be angry and outraged. This is totally un-American!

This week I am going to actively search for organizations that are going after these asses. If I had a gun, I'd go judge hunting... and I wouldn't be reading them their rights!

Drill here... drill NOW!

According to my liberal representatives here in California, the current high gas prices would not be helped by drilling here in the US. To quote Diane Feinstein, "...I do not believe that we can drill our way out of the current record energy prices..." Why not? Increasing the inventory ALWAYS brings down prices. Which school did she go to? The school of environmental special interests that's where.

Living in California has been politically frustrating. After the June 3 defeat of proposition 98 which would have restored sanity to the rental market in places like San Francisco, Los Angeles, Oakland and Berkeley and the pending passage of an assembly bill which would make "point of sale" energy audits mandatoy, I fear we are heading toward recession. Crazy politicians and their even crazier constituents are pushing the state toward bankruptcy. Even the Governor, no conservative, is fearful for our economy.

So on a national level, the California Democrats like Pelosi, Boxer and Feinstein are running the agenda. And after two years, look at where we are. They want to blame President Bush, but how then do they explain the previous 6 years of prosperity? Think of what it will be like with 4 years of Obama or Clinton and even bigger majorities in the house and senate. I'm warning you. That little island place we bought in Panama is starting to look better and better!

My fear is that we are losing our country. I know, I know. They thought that right after the Revolutionary War too, but at least they were closer to agreeing on what this country would look like. Does anyone think if the founders were alive today they would approve of the way the environmental minority is setting the agenda for the rest of us with bigger government, higher taxes, less freedom and more litigation? NO WAY! Remember, they went to war over an amount in taxes, that is more than just the amount we pay today on our telephone bills for the hearing impaired!!

If people want to solve this gas crisis now which has been created by environmentalists and liberals who refuse to let our oil companies drill and refine in this country, there is a new website that will be going up soon. It is called www.FedUpNetwork.com and will primarily focus on one issue at a time. The first endeavour will be HIGH GAS PRICES and pointing out who is to blame for them... and it sure isn't the Republicans like Democrats claim!

Check it out.

John Hofmeister, President of Shell Oil is my new hero

Oil executives have it bad. Every other week, it seems, they are being called up to Capitol Hill to testify as to why gas prices are so high when it is the idiots who called them to come are the real culprits. And now, John Hofmeister has told them just as much.

At some point, people are going to tell environmental whackos where to get off and insist the government lift some, if not all of the restrictions that have been placed on oil companies. Everything we drives uses gasoline. There's no getting around it. Even hybrids use petroleum products. Even the plastic bike helmets that the liberal whackos don so that they don't have to burn fossil fuels to get somewhere are made from petroleum! So why are we not being allowed to go get it?

Look at any other business and tell me one that has been told to produce something, but you can't get it here, can't explore there. If we did that to Congress the country would be in better shape, but other than that, not a single business could do well. And yet they are being charged as if what they are doing to make a living is crimminal. I, for one, am insulted on behalf of the oil companies.

That's why when John Hofmeister, president of Shell Oil handed it to the judiciary committee this week, Dick Durbin and Charles Schumer should have been ashamed of themselves. But they won't be because they are politicians... actors... and they have no conscience. Their only contribution to society is to pretend to solve problems and then get paid for it... thus keeping them off unemployment. Personally, I would prefer they do the latter. Scumbags.

Let the oil companies do what they do best and let's start hauling the global warming hoaxsters into court and make them prove their case!

Democrats are telling us exactly who they are...

Democrats are showing everyone what is in store if they win the whitehouse, and gain seats in the senate and house. Look at the last 2 years. Let's start with this month. Postal rate increases. This is almost unheard of in an election year. Usually, the party in power is too timid to show who they really are by raising postage rates (another form of taxation) when there is such an important election coming up... particularly when they just raised the rates not that long ago.

And let's look at gas prices. While they haul oil executives up to Capitol Hill to testify as to why energy is so expensive, today the oil companies hit back saying essentially that it is congress's policies that are causing the problem, not the oil companies! HOW TRUE! While everyone finds comfort in blaming big oil for price gouging, if everyone's business was as regulated as the oil industry, we would have an all out revolution.

Democratics have had the majorities in both the house and senate where all the legislation starts, and look at the mess our economy is in. Do we hear this from the press? NO! They are LIARS! Ever since Democrats won in 2004, the economy has gone south. During the first 6 years of the Bush tax cuts, the economy has gone gangbusters. It doesn't take a genius to see that conservative approaches to taxation works, and liberal policies don't.

So imagine if Obama or Clinton win the white house in 2008 and more Democrats are swept into power in both the House and Senate, we are going to be in big trouble. They are promising to raise taxes. Obama has suggested increasing the capital gains taxes. Who does he think creates the jobs in this country? It's the people who earn capital gains! And if they can't use those gains to purchase new equipment, open new businesses and hire employees, who is going to? Oh, I forgot. They will go into the new national health care industry! We are screwed!

Even if McCain can somehow pull out a win, he's as liberal as the day is long. How many Democrats have you talked to who have said they wouldn't mind a McCain presidency? I have talked to quite a few... those who will NOT vote for Senator Clinton no matter what. McCain has bought into the man-made global warming agenda... the same one that won't let us drill for oil. Can you say $10 a gallon for gas?

Someone out there has to have the figures. I am told we now import most of our oil from Canada. Is this oil that they produce or are they buying from somewhere else and then reselling to us? The good news is that oil futures can only go so high. The market will soon reach a price that can no longer be sustained. So all these speculators are going to go bust. Will they ask for government subsidies like the idiots who bought houses on speculation? Seems to me everyone is turning to the government who is only too happy to step in and solve just about any problem that comes along... whether it's their business or not.

Remember, what we have gotten from Nancy Pelosi and her gang for the past 2 years will only get worse once Democrats get more power. Count on it. And you can say you heard it here FIRST! Because you sure as hell won't hear it on the news.

Blme Democratics for high gas prices

Who else can be to blame when Democratics:
  • side with environmentalists who will not let us drill for new oil
  • side with environmentalists who will not let us build new refineries
  • make the oil companies formulate different blends of gasoline
  • will not take less in taxes to lower the price at the pump

Democratics are our enemies, and they should be defeated.

What the media does to support its OPINIONS! - They trot out losers!

For example, let's talk about everytime the media wants to dispute something that President Bush has done (Bush has won 2 elections) they bring out Jimmy Carter to criticize! Carter is the worst president in recent history and they make him the expert? Why? It's like those investment "experts" on the talk shows... how many times have they actually ever been right???

Wait, I'm not done. This week, they bring out Tom Daschle to critcize McCain. Now while I am no John McCain fan, why bring out a failed Senator from South Dakota? He LOST his last race because he was so bad. I guess Democrats fail upward!

Who else do we constantly hear from who is a Democrat? John Kerry. Sure, he's a senator, but he's a liar and failed presidential candidate. He was for invading Iraq before he was against it. How gutless must he be to take a position and then pretend he didn't take that position... and the media BELIEVES it. I guess they think we're stupid. But with fewer and fewer viewers and subscribers, maybe we're not that dumb afterall.

Recently they (the media) have also trotted out John Edwards. What? Why? He only served one term in the Senate before his state got tired of his bull$#!+ and elected someone else. Then he failed as a vice presidential candidate before he failed as a presidential candidate. In fact, the only thing he has been successful at is suing on behalf of childen he "channels" during his closing arguments at trial. He is an expert at nothing but hair care products.

Last but not least, let's talk about Howard Dean. He failed at his presidential bid in 2004 when he showed what a nut he is during the primaries. Now he's the leader of the Democratic party? Another example of failing upward.

The media has become a propaganda machine. Rush Limbaugh constantly points it out with sound bytes of news reporters using the EXACTLY same phrase to describe the events of the day... usually where George Bush is failing! How does this happen? Because they are all lazy hacks and nobody is doing any real investigation. Even 60 Minutes has drunk the Kool-Aid. Otherwise, they would have juicy stories along the lines of Shadow Warriors and World War IV about lying Democratics and liberals.

Legislators out of control! California's AB2678

If you want to see what Communism looks like, it's getting close to that in California. We have anything but a free market, and the legislators are driving businesses out of the state by the droves. Now they are aiming to kill the housing market in the name of solving global warming! As if they could.

The San Francisco Association of Realtors (SFAR) is hard at work trying to defeat Assembly Bill 2678 proposed by Fabian Nunez. The goal of the legislation is to force point of sale energy audits on home buyers and sellers. In a state already suffering from the effects of a weakening housing market, Mr. Nunez is proposing oppressive regulations that would 1) force home buyers to have and pay for an energy audit that 2) sets out a timeline of energy saving upgrades that would have to be made or the owner would face fines and penalties. Is this the government that is supposed to be for the little guy?

The SFResidence Blog has a short editorial about it along with some comments put forth by the SFAR. It's worth reading and give several phone numbers of people to contact if you oppose this new regulation.

Our government is out of control at the federal level as well as the state level. They are moving toward a Communist form of government where the elected elites get to choose what the rest of us can and can not do. I, for one, am getting ready to leave the country and head for Panama!

The topic is ENERGY policy... or lack of one!

The senate is out of touch. With Democrats in the majority, they have ruined our economy with their stupid policies. And now they are about to do it again. As recently as May 9th, they are proposing a double whammy to America's energy companies.

Not only will they revoke any tax credits for big oil companies, but they are also proposing a windfall profits tax on companies that don't invest in new energy sources. This is the stupidist thing I have ever heard.

Companies are in business to make a profit. If they could sell mud and make money they would do so with or without any tax consequences by the government. So why are politicians threatening oil companies if they don't invest in something that might make them money??? You've got it. There will be no profit in these energy alternatives because they don't work and people don't want them. Just like the recycling ruse foisted upon us by liberals (because most of the recycling goes into land fills and does not get reused... it's too expensive!) And who is going to pay for these extra expenses? You and I will. How does this lower gas prices????? It doesn't.

Harry Reid could be one of the worst senate leaders ever. If he is still in office after the next election, then people will deserve what they get from his incompetence. Remember those expensive bi-partisan hearings where the oil executives were marched up in front of the arrogant senators and asked to defend themselves? And remember that the investigation into "price gouging" turned up nothing? So where are the windfall profits?

After 6 years of booming economy, the Democrats have been in power in both the house and the senate and the bottom has dropped out of the economy. Who are they blaming? Bush. Now if Bush gets the blame, then shouldn't he get the credit for the previous 6 years? No, Bush is bad, Democrats are good. BULL. I contend that liberal policies are ruining this country and with a Democrat president, it will only get worse.

I suggested to the oil companies on their websites that they do a little better job of tooting their own horns. The press surely is not going to do it. I suggested they do the OSH "we pay the sales tax" promotion where they voluntarily lower their per gallon price at the pump by the amount of state and federal taxes to show people how much they are really adding to the skyrocketing gas prices. Then they should use that opportunity to educate people on what it takes to bring that gas to the pump. And all the roadblocks that the government is putting in their way to brining us cheap gas.

We need one formulation of gas. We need more refineries. We need more drilling. Even hybrids still use gas. And since ethanol is using up our food sources and making our groceries cost more, we need to do something. Corn can be eaten, so why use it for fuel? Oil is good for nothing other than burning for energy. Let's get real.

I am going to harp on this until someone wakes up and starts telling us the truth!
